Editorial Illustration
A hypothetical illustration for a New York Times Book Review cover. The design is inspired by an article by Michael Pollan on his book How to Change Your Mind, in which he attempts to put the experience of an acid trip into words.

I started out planning this illustration by picking out key sections of the article to sketch out. I came up with a few possibilities and settled on one. The written section I selected concerned the contrast of the ordinary and the psychedelic consciousness. I rendered the style to speak to both the normal and magnified nature of this experience.
